How can I apply for my child/children?

If you do not yet have a schoolplace for your child for 2013, you can add him / her to our waiting list for 2013 here

You will be able to apply for a place in September 2014 via the eAdmissions Pan London form. You will need to put HNS as a choice along with 5 other schools, and we will offer places based on our admission criteria.

When did you open?

We opened on 5th September 2013. We will accept 100 students for Year 7 in September 2014.

What is a Free School?

Free Schools are state-funded schools for children of all abilities. They are not controlled by the Local Authority, but are directly accountable to the Department for Education and its board of governors. Nonetheless, a close cooperation with the Hackney Learning Trust / the Local Authority is always desirable to ensure appropriate coordination of certain elements of education provision.

Will I have to pay to get my child in?

No. Hackney New School will be a state funded school with academy status.

Will the school be selective?

No. HNS will have similar over-subscription criteria to other Hackney schools, and 10 places per year for children with outstanding musical aptitude. HNS is open to and designed for all.
